KAKADU PLUM is a native Australian fruit that boasts the highest level of vitamin C of any food in the world and 100x the vitamin C content of oranges making it a true superfood!

Kakadu plum is found across Northern Australia in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, the Northern Territory and Queensland. The fruit is yellow to green and beaked containing a single seed.

Australia’s Indigenous people have been using Kakadu Plums as an important traditional bush food and medicine for thousands of years. Both the fruit and the seeds were eaten raw. The sap was roasted and the bark was boiled and brewed as a tea to treat colds and flu and help skin conditions and sores. 

What is Kakadu Plum known as?
Terminalia ferdinandiana – Kakadu plum is the most common name. Other names depending on location include Bush Plum, Billygoat Plum, Bush Plum, Salty Plum or Gubinge, Kabiny, Mardorr, Murunga, Kullari plum.

Culinary uses:
Kakadu plum has a sour taste and fibrous texture. They are largely used as an ingredient in sauces, jams, preserves, juices, relishes and desserts such as ice cream. Kakadu plum is also dried and ground into a powder for use in dietary supplements and health foods to take advantage of its amazing health benefits. It is important not to eat too many of the seeds, as they contain some toxins.
