After a dynamic year featuring her designs on New York Fashion Week’s Flying Solo runway, First Nations fashion designer Colleen Tighe Johnson is set to present her brand, Buluuy Mirrii, at the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair’s Country to Couture runway. Johnson, a proud Gomeroi woman from Moree, NSW, has taken ‘Buluuy Mirrii’ (meaning Black Star in Gomeroi) to international heights. Returning for her second showcase at Country to Couture, Johnson will debut Buluuy Mirrii’s new collection, Seven Sisters. “This is the first Australian launch of the Seven Sisters collection. It tells the story of the Seven Sisters, a narrative that spans across the center of Australia and through the heart of Gomeroi Country,” she shared.

Country to Couture, held alongside the annual Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair (DAAF) since 2016, is a key event for the First Nations fashion community. It showcases the best of emerging and established designers, highlighting Johnson’s growth and creativity.
