Indigenous music collective Blak Collective 3% is gearing up for the release of their debut album, KILL THE DEAD, with the release of their uplifting new single “Won’t Stop” featuring acclaimed artist Jessica Mauboy. Blak Collective 3% Releases Powerful Anthem “Won’t Stop” Featuring Jessica Mauboy
A Song of Resilience
Released on Friday via 1788 Records/Virgin Music Group, “Won’t Stop” is a powerful anthem that acknowledges the struggles of Indigenous Australians (“a lot of pain and trauma”) while celebrating their enduring strength (“the strength, perseverance and resilience”). The track features a catchy melody with piano and horns, along with powerful vocals by Woods, Nooky, Field, and Mauboy.
Healing Through Art
The accompanying music video was filmed at the significant Bomaderry Children’s Home, a site with a complex history for the Stolen Generations. The video interweaves performances by the artists with storytelling by Elders who were taken to Bomaderry as children, aiming to educate viewers and promote healing.
Album Launch and Listening Parties
To celebrate the upcoming release of KILL THE DEAD on August 9, Blak Collective 3% will be hosting a series of launch and listening parties across Sydney, Melbourne, and Castlemaine. These events kick off with a special NAIDOC Week collaboration with Sydney’s butter restaurant.
Supporting First Nations Futures
Fans who attended the July 7 “Sunday Sesh Launch” were treated to a special “Nooky’s Meal Pack” featuring a unique take on fried chicken, damper, and a honey donut. In addition, attendees received a signed poster and a presale download of the album. Importantly, $2 from each meal sold throughout a four-week period will be donated to First Nations Futures, a worthy cause supporting Indigenous Australians.
