Bangarra Dance Theatre, renowned for its unique blend of traditional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture with contemporary dance, is now accepting applications for the 2025 Russell Page Graduate Program and professionally contracted dancer positions.
Russell Page Graduate Program
The Russell Page Graduate Program offers Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander dance graduates or emerging artists an exceptional opportunity to enhance their skills as professional dancers. Participants will receive specialized training and guidance while actively performing as part of the ensemble for various performances and tours. This paid, full-time position is available to individuals aged 18 to 23, providing a solid foundation for those at the start of their professional dance careers.
Since its inception in 2015, the Russell Page Graduate Program has launched the careers of over 20 emerging artists, many of whom continue to thrive within the industry. Among Bangarra’s current ensemble of 16 dancers, 9 are proud alumni of the Russell Page Graduate Program, underscoring the program’s pivotal role in nurturing talent.
Professionally Contracted Dancer Positions
In addition to the graduate program, Bangarra is also conducting auditions for professionally contracted dancer positions. These roles are open to individuals aged 18 and older, offering a platform for seasoned dancers to join the esteemed company. Selected dancers for both the graduate program and professional positions will commence their tenure in January 2025.
A Legacy of Excellence
The Russell Page Graduate Program is named in honor of Russell Page, a distinguished descendant of the Nunukul people and the Munaldjali clan of the Yugambeh nation in South-East Queensland. Russell Page, the younger brother of David and Stephen Page, was a remarkably talented artist whose contributions left an indelible mark on the company. His performances captivated audiences and his legacy continues to inspire future generations of dancers.

The deadline for applications is 2 September 2024. Auditions will be held at Bangarra’s studio in Sydney’s Walsh Bay Arts Precinct on Tuesday, 17 September 2024.
