During this incredible cultural experience, at Nitmiluk Gorge in the Katherine region of the Northern Territory, Jawoyn tour guides share stories of their lives and carry on the legacy of their ancestors and their forefathers. Discover first-hand knowledge of the region and cultural traditions unique to the Jawoyn.
This 2.5 hour experience unites traditional Jawoyn Culture with Western understandings. Small groups of up to 8 persons will be accompanied through the first gorge by one of our River Guides and one of our Cultural Team Members, both sharing their contrasting knowledge from different perspectives throughout the tour. Once at the top of the first gorge, you will have the opportunity to disembark on a short walk (80m) to view ancient Jawoyn RockArt. You will also be taught traditional customs used in generations passed – some of which are still used today.
