Leading investment firm QIC has announced a continued partnership with the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair Foundation (DAAFF) and expanded its support for Indigenous fashion by sponsoring three categories of the National Indigenous Fashion Awards (NIFA).

This year, QIC will sponsor the Community Collaboration Award, Wearable Art Award, and the newly introduced Business Achievement Award at the NIFAs. The awards recognize the exceptional talent and creativity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander fashion designers.

QIC’s partnership with DAAF has been instrumental in empowering Indigenous Australians in the fashion industry through the Indigenous Fashion Projects (IFP) program, which offers development programs, mentorship, and events like Country to Couture and NIFA.

To further support Indigenous talent, QIC will host a showcase of NIFA winners and finalists at Canberra Centre and Eastland. The company’s Local Talent Activation Program will provide opportunities for emerging Indigenous artists and designers to participate in the DAAF experience.

Justin Welfare, QIC’s First Nations Affairs lead, expressed the company’s commitment to supporting Indigenous communities through this partnership. Michelle Maynard, IFP manager, highlighted the positive impact of QIC’s support on the Indigenous fashion industry.

The collaboration between QIC and DAAF is set to create a lasting impact on the fashion industry by providing opportunities for Indigenous designers and fostering a more inclusive and diverse sector.
