Bonds and First Nations Fashion & Design Partner Up for Free Fashion Design Workshops!
Boosting Opportunities for Indigenous Creatives
This innovative program aims to bridge the gap by providing First Nations creatives with valuable resources and knowledge. Through a mix of virtual and hands-on sessions, participants will delve into various aspects of fashion design, from learning the fundamentals to exploring industry best practices.
Two-Way Learning and Knowledge Exchange
The program emphasizes a collaborative approach. Not only will participants gain expertise from FNFD’s talented artists like Helena Loncaric, but they will also have the opportunity to learn from Bonds’ design, product development, merchandising, and marketing specialists. This two-way learning fosters knowledge exchange and fosters a more inclusive fashion industry.
Hands-On Learning and Networking
The program kicks off on July 31st with a workshop dedicated to hands-on printing techniques on Bonds shirts. This is just the first of nine exciting workshops to be announced throughout the year on FNFD’s social media channels and website.
Celebrating Indigenous Talent
“We are excited to continue our partnership with Bonds and launch this program,” says FNFD founder Grace Lillian Lee. “FNFD is committed to increasing Indigenous representation in fashion. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities have a wealth of stories and talents to share, and this program empowers and celebrates them.”
Aligning with FNFD’s Mission
The FNFD Activations Program aligns perfectly with FNFD’s mission of promoting ethical and sustainable growth in fashion. It fosters partnerships with Indigenous communities and raises awareness about their significant contributions to the industry.
Bonds Committed to Inclusivity
Bonds, a longstanding Australian fashion brand, is proud to partner with FNFD to create opportunities for emerging Indigenous creatives. “We are thrilled to support young First Nations designers through this program,” says Bonds’ head of marketing, Kedda Ghazarian. “This initiative aligns with our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) and provides meaningful access to the fashion industry. We can’t wait to see the next generation of designers flourish!”
Empowering the Future of Fashion
The FNFD Activations Program, powered by Bonds, is a significant step forward for Indigenous fashion in Australia. By providing free workshops and fostering a collaborative environment, this program empowers First Nations creatives to take center stage in the fashion world.
