Aiden Young’s story is one of success and opportunity. Three years ago, the proud Kamilaroi man made a decision that propelled him through the ranks of the New South Wales Government’s public sector. That decision? Joining the award-winning NSW Government Graduate Program. Rising Star: Aiden Young’s Journey Through the NSW Government Graduate Program
From Graduate to Communications Advisor
Young, a graduate with a Bachelor of Marketing and International Relations, entered the program in 2021. Over the next 18 months, he gained invaluable experience through three graduate placements across various government departments, including the Aboriginal Housing Office. This experience, coupled with tailored learning and development opportunities, equipped him with the skills and knowledge to excel.
A Focus on Cultural Safety
Young highlights a positive shift he’s witnessed during his time with the NSW Government: a growing emphasis on cultural safety. “There’s a real effort to improve understanding,” he states, acknowledging the importance this plays in creating an inclusive workplace.
Building a Rewarding Career
Following the program’s completion, Young, like many other graduates, landed a full-time position. Today, he utilizes the skills, experience, and network he built through the program as a Communications Advisor for Service NSW within the Department of Customer Service.
