His talent has not gone unnoticed by teammates and coaches alike. Geelong captain Patrick Dangerfield heaped praise on the young West Australian, highlighting his football intelligence and exceptional skills. “He thinks a step ahead, he understands the game really well and it is a pretty incredible story,” Dangerfield said.

Humphries’ rapid rise from WAFL reserves to a key defensive role in the AFL is a testament to his hard work and natural ability. Drafted with pick 63 in last year’s AFL National Draft, he has quickly emerged as one of the biggest steals of the draft class.

Even before breaking into the senior side, Humphries showcased his talent in the VFL, averaging nearly 22 disposals per game and demonstrating his potential.

AFL champion Luke Hodge joined the chorus of admirers, impressed by Humphries’ maturity and understanding of the game. “His skill, his understanding of the game and he understands where to spread so it must be pretty good for the Cats to see someone like that have an impact straight away,” Hodge said.

With his Rising Star nomination, Humphries continues to make a strong case for himself as one of the most exciting young talents in the AFL. As he continues to develop his game, the football world eagerly awaits to see what the future holds for this promising young star.
