Fresh from the debut launch at Australian Fashion Week, First Nations womenswear and lifestyle brand Miimi and Jiinda have announced their new Yarilla Resort collection is now available for pre-order. Miimi & Jiinda Launches Yarilla Resort Collection for Pre-Order
Designed on Gumbaynggirr Country by talented founder and designer Melissa Greenwood, the Yarilla collection has been proudly made by Miimi & Jiinda’s skilled team on Gadigal land. The collection features a variety of sustainable fabrics, including 100% linen and 100% silk.
With pre-orders available now until 23 July and deliveries expected in September 2024, the new collection is designed on a made-to-order basis, reflecting the brand’s commitment to sustainability and caring for Country.

Made-to-order fashion is a considered manufacturing approach Miimi & Jiinda utilize to help reduce garment waste. They proudly create slow fashion responsibly, supporting a circular system of design, production, and consumption.
By bringing production onshore, Miimi & Jiinda ensure ethical processes, including fair wages, minimizing waste, and maximizing resources.
Miimi & Jiinda also prioritize and support the talents of locals and Australian small businesses—pattern makers, cutters, textile designers, and suppliers—with a significant focus on partnering with Indigenous professionals whenever possible.

This commitment to sustainable materials and ethical practices is evident throughout the Yarilla Resort collection, showcased through the use of materials, tonal hues, and symbolic meaning.
The collection celebrates Miimi & Jiinda’s beautiful Gumbaynggirr homelands and their matriarchs who inspire everything they do. Each garment in the collection is adorned with limited edition Miimi & Jiinda original artworks, telling stories of Country.
“The name of our collection ‘Yarilla’ is a Gumbaynggirr word meaning to ‘light up and illuminate,'” said artist and designer Melissa Greenwood.
“Our culture is Matriarchal, and I love to tell stories of strong, heart-centred women. Throughout the collection, you will see beautiful blue and green hues representing our gaagal (oceans) and bindarray (rivers). Earthy pinks, browns, and yellows of our beautiful Miimi Maaral (Mother Earth), her sunrises, sunsets, and moonlit skies.”
