Kambu Health is a community-controlled, not-for-profit charitable organization that provides essential healthcare and community services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in the Ipswich and West Moreton region. This area is one of Australia’s fastest-growing regions, making Kambu Health’s mission critical in supporting the well-being of its Indigenous residents.

Event Details

Scheduled for Saturday, 6 July, the Gala Ball will be held at the Queensland Museum Rail Workshops Ipswich. The event’s theme, “Our People – Our Community – Our Health – Our Way,” underscores the importance of cultural heritage and the collective achievements of the Indigenous community.

Statement from Kambu Health

Gamilaroi woman and Kambu Health chief executive, Simone Jackson, expressed her excitement about the upcoming event: “We are thrilled to announce our inaugural NAIDOC Gala Ball, an event that honors the rich cultural heritage of our community and pays tribute to the achievements of the First Nations people.”

Jackson emphasized the significance of the event, saying, “This gala ball represents a significant milestone for us, and we look forward to bringing our community together for an evening of celebration, unity, and cultural homage.”

Gala Ball Highlights

The Gala Ball will host over 300 attendees and feature a three-course dinner and live entertainment by the Indigenous band CKNU. Renowned Ngarrindjeri comedian Kevin Kropinyeri will serve as the Master of Ceremonies, ensuring an evening filled with laughter and joy.

Awards Ceremony

A highlight of the evening will be the Awards Ceremony, where local champions will be celebrated for their significant contributions to the community. This ceremony aims to recognize and honor individuals who have demonstrated dedication and commitment to positive change within the Indigenous community.
