Lazy Girl Lingerie Steals the Spotlight at Australian Fashion Week

Lazy Girl Lingerie made a whimsical and impactful return to the Australian Fashion Week (AFW) catwalk, stealing the spotlight at the David Jones X Indigenous Fashion Projects runway. This marked the brand’s second appearance at AFW, where founder Cassandra Pons unveiled her new Ocean Eyes collection for the first time at this prestigious event. As one of the selected Indigenous Fashion Projects Pathways designers, Pons was eager to showcase her work, mirroring the enthusiasm of the packed audience. “The IFP program has fostered a sense of community and connection,” Pons shared with Style Up earlier this week. “It’s truly an honor to work with the other designers, their stories inspire me, and we can help lift each other up.”

Pons’ Ocean Eyes collection, described by critics as chic and whimsical, is characterized by its ethereal, elegant, and relaxed aesthetic. “This collection feels ethereal, elegant, and relaxed,” she said. “It features new natural fiber fabrics in a calming palette that shares my brand’s message of caring for country through the clothing we wear.”

Pons, a proud First Nations woman and descendant of the Waanyi people, has found the IFP Pathways Program invaluable. “The program has elevated my brand, provided industry connections, and offered mentoring and coaching,” she said.

Despite a busy 2023, including her first AFW and Melbourne Fashion Week debuts, Pons shows no signs of slowing down. Excitingly, she is also preparing for motherhood. “My husband and I are expecting our first baby in July, and I look forward to seeing how the business grows with me during this exciting next chapter,” she shared.
