Supply Nation Appoints Penny Bingham-Hall as New Co-Chair

Supply Nation, the leading supplier diversity organization in Australia, has appointed Penny Bingham-Hall as its new co-chair. Ms. Bingham-Hall, an experienced company director in publicly-listed government and not-for-profit organizations, will join forces with fellow co-chair Michelle Deshong to lead Supply Nation into its next phase of growth and impact. In her statement, Ms. Bingham-Hall expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the role of co-chair and emphasized the growing recognition of the value that supplier diversity brings to businesses and the contribution of First Nations firms to the Australian economy and their communities.

“It is an exciting time to be implementing initiatives that directly assist Indigenous businesses with the backing of the Board, our corporate members, and partners,” she said.

Ms. Bingham-Hall, currently a non-executive director of Fortescue, chair of Vocus Group, and deputy chair of both the Salaam Foundation and the Advisory Council of the Climate Governance Initiative, Australia, brings a wealth of experience to her new role.

She replaces outgoing co-chair Scott Wharton, who will remain on the Supply Nation board but cited his responsibilities as chief executive and managing director of Smartgroup as the reason for stepping down.

“Over recent years, Supply Nation has made good progress against our strategic priorities in a period of considerable growth,” Mr. Wharton said. “The board continues to strengthen and has real depth of experience that will help guide the organization to even greater success.”

Ms. Deshong acknowledged Mr. Wharton’s significant contribution to Supply Nation and expressed her delight that he will continue to add value to the board.

Supply Nation, since its inception in 2009, has worked tirelessly to support and connect thousands of First Nations businesses, fostering their growth and contributing to the ever-growing Indigenous business community. Currently, Supply Nation connects over 4,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses with over 700 member organizations.

“We are currently very privileged to have an exceptionally experienced and talented Board with a diverse range of backgrounds and skills,” Ms. Deshong said.

With the appointment of Ms. Bingham-Hall and the continued dedication of the Supply Nation team, the organization is poised to continue its mission of promoting supplier diversity and empowering Indigenous businesses across Australia.
